Teacher – Urban Ed Alternative School

Energetic, highly motivated, dynamic teacher to work with a diverse group of homeless and at-risk youth, ages 17-24, at Outside In’s Employment & Education Resource Center (ERC). Maintain a welcoming and low-barrier learning environment, providing outreach, engagement activities and direct instruction to youth – i.e., GED, credit recovery, ABE and college prep. Join this exciting opportunity to continue developing a curriculum aligned with Common Core Standards and the new GED. Partner with volunteer tutors to provide instruction in all subjects. Work as member of ERC team to provide integrated career development to disenfranchised youth.

Required qualifications:

· BA/BS

· Valid HS teaching credential

· Minimum two years relevant teaching experience and/or youth work experience

· Ability to relate easily to and instruct diverse individuals

· Passionate commitment to working with students who face numerous barriers in continuing education and entering the workforce

· Team player with exceptionally strong communication, organization, planning and interpersonal skills, including excellent attention to detail

Preferred qualifications:

· M.Ed, MAT or MS

· Reading credential

· Spanish fluency
