Beyond Yoghurt: Saturday, 3/7, 10am-1pm

Saturday, March 7, 10am-1pm at People's Food Co-op

Are you tired of all those yoghurt containers that are filling your drawers and cupboards? Want to reduce packaging and waste, money and space?

Come to People's Food Co-op to learn about the artful science and culturing techniques for creating your own Dairy & Non-Dairy based fermented foods. After going over the basics and how-to's for making these foods at home, we will have the chance to try samples. Everyone will go home with starter cultures for: yogurt, kefir, buttermilk, vili, & coconut milk kefir.

There is a recommended donation of $5 for materials and starts, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

If you have questions or would like to register, contact [email protected].

Mentor a teen in foster care: Be a tour guide to life

Have you ever played tour guide to Portland? Had the fun of showing visitors your favorite spots, strolling your favorite parks, visiting the prettiest public gardens? Discovering something new and quirky?

There are teens in foster care that have never ventured across the Willamette River into downtown. There are some who have never walked through Washington Park or taken a hike in Forest Park. Some have never ridden the Portland Streetcar or seen the PSU campus. Think about playing tour guide to a teen in foster care for the next twelve months.
