Event - Self-Guided Tour of Historic Columbia River Highway

The Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway invite you to participate in a self-guided tour of the highway on April 18.  Learn more about the eastern end of the highway between Cascade Locks and The Dalles.  Experts will provide information at nine stops along the highway, including three museums, three State Parks and a private estate.  For more information, visit www.hcrh.org/SpringTour09.html

Earth Advantage Institute is hosting its first ever, Earth Day Run on April 25th, 2009. By partnering with Friends of Trees, the focus for the run is to celebrate Earth Day and have an event that recognizes sustainable homes and developments, green living, and healthy life styles.

Growing Gardens Parent Child Workshop- "Starting the Seed for your Garden"

THURSDAY April 16th and MONDAY April 27th 5:30-7:00pm

Growing Gardens is offering “Starting the Seeds for you Garden” as part of our Parent and Child Workshop series.

Parent and Child Workshops are designed to spark interest in gardening for children aged 6 to 12 while providing fun ways for parents (aunts, uncles, guardians, grandparents, neighbors) and children to grow gardens together.

Parents and children will learn how to start seeds, care for them, and when to transplant them to have a summer of fresh vegetables. Participants will leave with free seeds and pots to plant in their home gardens or outdoor containers.

Join our Summer Tracking Workshops! We will cover basic foundations of animal tracking through awareness practices, reading and locating tracks, pressure release studies and sign identification. With these exciting and interactive workshops you will learn skills that will help you find, follow and interpret tracks and sign!

De Paul Treatment Centers serves the greater Portland community by providing drug and alcohol addiction treatment services. We are currently seeking a full-time Outpatient Counselor for our Adult facility located downtown. Counselor position provides professional treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Candidates must be familiar with strength based counseling and have knowledge of dual diagnosis, SOC and MI. This position requires MA or CADC. Position is Tue-Sat, evening hours required during week days. Bilingual and bicultural applicants are encouraged to apply. The goal of this emerging CDFI is to provide short-term, low-dollar consumer loans, asset building opportunities, and basic but comprehensive financial literacy for people with significant barriers to financial stability.

Grants for Low-Income Community Empowerment Programs - Apply by April 15

Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) Grants fund grassroots community organizations who are focused on the systemic causes of poverty, and who address institutional change, not just individual change. People living in poverty must have the dominant voice in the organization - 50% of the board must be from the low-income community being served, and leadership development must be available to all low-income participants. We are accepting applications for our Spring Grants cycle. The application deadline is April 15th , 2009 .

KBOO Community Radio Board Seats

KBOO Community Radio is recruiting candidates for appointment to vacant board seats. We presently have 2 vacant board seats. We are seeking to fill these positions until September 30, 2009 when our next election takes place.

We are particularly looking for volunteers with skills in finance, fund raising, web development and marketing. A strong board member dedicates 5 hours a week to the station. KBOO is a community-oriented and volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are part of a small band of radio stations that remains independent, local, noncommercial and open to ordinary citizens who want to make a difference.
