Vibrant, sustainable, multi-generational co-housing community in NE Portland looking for new community members for our last two units. We have almost 4 acres, with an existing permaculture farm, orchards, 6 bedroom common house, and 37 self-contained condo apartments. We are an intentional community with strong values around sustainability, cooperation, and democratic process. We have a two bedroom and a three bedroom condo available at this point.

May 12th - InFARMation (and Beer!): Local MeatOn May 12th, InFARMation (and Beer!) will be tackling the big issue of Local Meat - what the barriers are for Oregon farmers trying to get grass-fed, pasture raised, and humanely treated meat to the consumer, and what options Oregonians have for opting out of the factory farm food system and buying directly from their local farmers. Val Blaha from Mossback Farms and Chrissie and Koorosh Zaerpoor from Kookoolan Farms will be telling their personal stories of raising meat in Oregon and how they’ve structured their farm businesses to bring local meat to consumers.  Next month on June 9th, Idaho grass-fed beef producer and ranching consultant Steve Campbell is coming to Portland to speak about how he

Global Warming Day of Action--Critical Hearing in Seattle 5/21!

The Environmental Protection Agency has just announced its proposal that carbon dioxide (CO2) is an endangerment to the public health and welfare and they are holding a public hearing regarding this proposal and we need to be there to demonstrate our support for swift action!

This is our first major opportunity since the Presidential election to demonstrate clear, decisive, overwhelming support for bold federal action on global warming. This is the critical first step for EPA to begin regulating carbon dioxide from coal plants, cars, and other major sources of global warming pollution.

Volunteer for Down By The Riverside this Saturday!

Oregon’s waterways and natural areas are the envy of the nation but they need our help to stay that way. Join SOLV and roughly 15,000 volunteers across Oregon on Saturday, May 16th from 9 am to 1 pm for Down By The Riverside. This event is made up of over 350 projects throughout the state. At this fun volunteer event community members will explore their personal impact on local watersheds, work to restore Oregon, and meet new people.

2nd Annual Willamette River Cleanup on Saturday

Be a part of the 2nd Annual Willamette River Cleanup on Saturday, May 16th from 9 am to 1pm. Portlanders will be volunteering all along the river from the Sellwood Bridge to Swan Island as we keep the city’s front yard clean. We will be picking up trash along the riverbanks from Sellwood Bridge to Swan Island accessing all areas by foot or boat and delivering the collected trash to barges with dumpsters. Tutor Refugee Youth!

The IRCO- MCSI program seeks dedicated and responsible volunteers to assist IRCO-MCSI staff with running small ESL tutoring, conversation, and reading groups from 11:30am-12:30pm Monday-Thursday. Tutors will read stories to, converse with, and tutor newly arrived refugee students in basic math and literacy for an hour a day 1-2x per week. Experience with youth not required, but a strong desire to work with refugee youth, background check, and 6-week commitment are.
