The popular roving ASTD-Cascadia luncheon event Taste of ASTD visits the Jantzen Beach area on Thursday, Nov. 19. You stay with your table, sell your arts and crafts, take your own money, and keep your profits! No special tagging needed and no percentage taken at the end! Bring your work, a table cloth, any table top displays, and a warm smile. We’ll provide the table and chair. You are welcome to share a table with a partner.

Final weekend of Miracle Theatre's Day of the Dead celebration

There's only one more weekend to see CANTA Y NO LLORES (Sing and Don't Cry) -- Miracle Theatre Group's heart-warming and record-breaking celebration of Día de los muertos created by Martín Milagro, directed by Olga Sanchez and sponsored by El Hispanic News:

Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (limited availability) Friday at 8:00 p.m. Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (SOLD OUT) Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets are $20-$22 ($16 for students/seniors) from 503-236-7253, www.milagro.org  or the PDX Ticket Network community box office at the Hollywood Theatre 1-9 p.m. daily. The performance is bilingual (English and Spanish) and runs approximately two hours, including intermission.

Sponsored by the Richmond Neighborhood Association, this month’s event is a visit with Farmer Kollibri, the Bike Farmer who farms in other people's yards here in the Southeast and offers exchange of the produce for use of land/labor/useful goods, creating a unique CSA. Farmer K bikes to farm the 13 yard plots 3-5 mile distance 90% of the time.

Outdoor Science Camp Instructor Postitions at OMSI 2010 Season

Help inspire wonder through challenging, rewarding work in amazing locations! The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) offers the most extensive, longest running, and in-depth summer science camps program in the Northwest and is seeking Outdoor Science Instructors to teach natural science and natural resource management topics in various settings, including trailside, van-based, rafting, canoeing and field classrooms, to students and campers enrolled in OMSI’s field programs, residential outdoor science school and summer science camps and adventures. Exempt position with benefits, scheduled February through November. Work schedule varies depending on programming.

The Multnomah Bar Foundation (MBF) is now accepting Letters of Inquiry (LOI) for projects that are aligned with its mission to increase the public’s understanding of the legal system and promote civic education and participation.

Free Women's Health exams available in December

The OHSU Center for Women’s Health, through generous community donations, is able to offer free women’s health exams (Pap test, pelvic exam and clinical breast exam) every month.  Any woman experiencing barriers to receiving these preventive screenings is welcome to call.

We still have appointments available in December at a variety of times and dates.

Willamette Valley Development Officers (WVDO) is a nonprofit organization that provides training programs for nonprofit fundraisers.

We have a variety of programs that meet the needs of individuals just beginning to work in fundraising to those that direct programs and run departments.

For 2010, we are reaching into the community for potential presenters. We encourage fundraising professionals to lead workshops for other fundraisers. This community focused learning enhances everyone's learning.

Are you able and willing to donate your time and skills?  Do you like to have fun?  Would you be interested in welcoming immigrants into our community?  Would you like to learn about a new culture?  Learn a new language?  Would you like to be a mentor?

Come share, build, and practice your skills by volunteering your time with us!

We are looking for mentors who are willing to help East African, Burmese, Eastern European and Hispanic youth.  Mentors will spend one and a half hours a week helping with homework and English, talking about school, life, and the youth’s future.
