Covers & Blankets 7 is a open mic night of COVER tunes generating BLANKETS, warm clothing, and toiletries to be donated to the Janus Youth Program of Portland, an off the street shelter for young mothers and at risk teens right here in Portland.

St. Philip Neri Church RENTAL SPACE AVAILABLE

LARGE RENTAL SPACE/OFFICE SPACE AVAILABLE: Are you, or anyone you may know, in need of a large rental space or office space?  St. Philip Neri's Paulist Center has several options for rentals. The large upper church and a small office, both on the second floor are available for rent to non-profit organizations. Suggested uses for the larger space are artists spaces, dance group(s), arts and crafts display booths, (need own partitions) and  offices. If interested, contact Jeanne at 503-231-4955, ext. 103. The Paulist Center is conveniently located at SE 16th and Division. Liability  insurance is required for all permanent rentals. We also have a certified kitchen for catering businesses and/or start-up organizations.

Vonage or other VoIP for office phone systems?

I would be interested in hearing back from anyone in the area that has switched to using Vonage, or other VoIP services as a comprehensive replacement for land line phone systems.

Trainings

Renovation, Repair, Painting Certification

Community Energy Project is now an EPA certified Accredited Training Provider for the new Renovation, Repair and Painting requirements for contractors and others who disturb lead-based paint in targeted housing. Proceeds from the training fees fund CEP programs, including lead poisoning prevention, weatherization workshops, and services for seniors and people with disabilities.

This 8-hour training will cover topics including:

Why lead paint should be a concern

Current regulations

Preparation of worksite

Containing dust during work

Cleaning activities and checking work

Recordkeeping

Training non-certified renovation workers

Hands-on activities

Review and test

Business Development Volunteer

Procure business support in the form of vehicle advertising for Ride Connection’s East County U-Ride program. Revenue generated from this outreach effort will go towards the U-Ride volunteer transportation program which supports the transportation needs of older adults and people with disabilities.

Plant trees this Saturday to celebrate the end of January with Friends of Trees!

It couldn’t be easier to volunteer - all you need to do is simply show up around 8:45am. Friends of Trees will provide morning refreshments, gloves, and tools, as well as guidance from experienced volunteer crew leaders. We just ask that you wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.

PORTLAND :: Turn East Portland green by helping to plant over 100 street trees in the Hazelwood, Mill Park, and Centennial neighborhoods! Meet at Gethesmane Lutheran Church at 11560 SE Market Street (http://bit.ly/nt013010)

TIGARD :: We return to King City Park to finish this year’s restoration efforts – we’ll be planting about 400 trees and shrubs! Meet at the end of SW Montague Way (http://bit.ly/gsi013010)

Final stretch for Hats & Scarves Project!

Friday, Feb.  5 is the final day that Living Earth’s Hats & Scarves “drop-off” baskets will be out to collect hand-knit and crocheted items for kids, families, and other folks this winter. (See HatsandScarves.org for details.) Since just mid-November we have collected more than 450 beautiful hand-crafted items to share home-made warmth with those in need.  But don’t stop yet!

Our distribution partners this winter include IRCO Africa House, Emanuel Children’s Hospital, Sisters of the Road, Blanchet House, and the Clothes Closet for Portland Public Schools. Drop-sites for finished items are at Seven Corners New Seasons Market and all Albina Community Bank branches.
