The Invasive Species Control Technician will assist the JCWC Education and Research Associate on the Johnson Creek Noxious Weed Monitoring and Maintenance Project. The primary objective of the project is to survey and manage noxious weeds along Johnson Creek and its tributaries. The project is designed to focus on the surveying for weed species designated in the Weed Watchers EDRR Identification Guide and the treatment of Japanese knotweed and yellow flag iris. Treatment will primarily be done with the use of herbicide.

Ride Connection’s FareShare program will provide matching funds to 501c3 non-profit organizations to supplement funding used to purchase transit fare for Older Adults and People with Disabilities.

Ride Connection’s newest program was created to encourage human service agencies and community non-profit partners to include transportation for older adults and people with disabilities in their program planning, funding applications and program operational budgets.

La Scuola Italiana di Portland seeks space for Adult Language Classes

Attention Portland!

La Scuola Italiana di Portland is in need of a space to host our Beginner Adult Italian Language classes for the summer!

We would be interested in using the facilities on Monday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:30pm from June 28 until August 16th (a total of 8 sessions). The space would need to comfortably fit 7-10 people and preferably have a black board or white board.

We hope to find something relatively reasonable in price and close-in to downtown.

Hands on Holocaust Workshop

The Oregon Holocaust Resource Center in collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Portland, The Office of Student Activities at Lewis & Clark College and the Jewish Partisan Educational Foundation will be offering a one day teacher training workshop on August 12. Registered participants will also be invited to attend a special screening of the film Defiance on the evening of August 11 at 6pm and tour the Oregon Holocaust Resource Center at 1953 NW Kearney in Portland. The cost of this workshop is $30 to participants. Enrollment is limited to 50 participants. The workshop will run from 8:30am to 5pm and be held in Portland, OR at Lewis & Clark College. Volunteering

Volunteers Needed for Get Going Oregon!

Get Going Oregon! seeks volunteers to assist with its inaugural health fair and 5-mile walk. Get Going Oregon! aims to bring awareness to diabetes education and resources and benefits the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center at Oregon Health & Science University.

Volunteer opportunities include set up and take down of the event, welcoming participants, assisting with registration, directing walkers along the course, as well as other miscellaneous tasks. Hours range from 7am until 2pm and we ask that volunteers commit to a three-hour time slot. Each volunteer will be considered our guest of honor and will receive a visor and refreshments as a thank you for your commitment to our community and Get Going Oregon!
