Mortgage Default Intake Orientation

The Community Housing Resource Center will be holding a free Mortgage Default Orientation on Thursday, November 4th, from 5-6PM at the Center. This workshop is the required first step in learning how to work with your lender and how the Center can assist you in resolving your mortgage issue. You do not need to be in default to attend. No reservations are required. For information, contact 360-690-4496 X105. The Community Housing Resource Center is a HUD certified, non-profit counseling/education center.

Come Home to Community - Learn about Cohousing on Sunday, Nov 7

Imagine living in a community where you know and socialize with all your neighbors. Meet members of Daybreak Cohousing, learn about cohousing and tour the community on Sunday, November 7, 1:30-3:30 pm on site at 2525 N. Killingsworth Street. (#72 Killingsworth bus or Max to the Killingsworth station). Daybreak Cohousing was named one of the nations “top 10 green cohousing developments” by Natural Home Magazine (January 2009). Daybreak members range in age from babies to 70+. Homes have most of the features of conventional homes, and members also enjoy extensive common facilities.

YOUTH CARE COUNSELOR OVERNIGHT

Full-time 30 hrs/wk (3 – 10 hours shifts) and Full-time 40 hrs/wk (4-10 hour shifts), both with benefits, in SE Portland residential home serving female adolescents 10 – 17 years old in DHS custody. Main duties involve supervision of 9-11 residents and support services to program staff. Work with committed and dynamic team. BA/BS degree in Social Service field and at least 2 years of experience or combination of education/experience required. Must be available to work weekend, overnights, and have a valid driver’s license.

Practical solar PV training Nov 20-21 by Green Empowerment

 

Green Empowerment is offering a very hands-on training on Nov 20+21 on the PSU campus (details will be sent later to registered participants, for those interested in solar energy (photovoltaic) small electrification systems and solar pumping systems. Our focus is on villages in developing countries, but the information is applicable for a cabin in the mountains as well.

 

Day 1: Intro to electricity and electrical measurements, intro on photovoltaics, and lots of hands-on observation and measurements.

 

Day 2 (optional): sizing of systems and slideshows of actual Green Empowerment projects in Nicaragua, Peru or the Philippines.

Friday, November 5 from 8am to 7pm and Saturday, November 6 from 7am to 4pm

 

Portland Expo Center, 2060 N Marine Drive

 

General Admission: $4.00 per day or $2.00 with 3 Cans of Food for the Sunshine Division** (Children 12 & under Free)

First Saturday Work Party with Clackamas River Basin Council

Come get dirty while cleaning up the watershed!

 

Volunteers will help to remove invasive species and plant native trees while learning more about this great place we call the Clackamas watershed. For more info and to register, please contact Rebecca Walker at [email protected] or 503-558-0550.

 

The work party will begin at 9 and end at noon, and is located off of Highway 212 in Damascus. When you register, you'll get detailed directions.

Book Release Party + Volunteering

Mercy Corps Northwest will be hosting a Book Release Party for the Portland Bottom Line and needs volunteers to help make the event a success.

 

You can volunteer generally between 4pm-9pm for a 3 hour shift. Duties that need coverage include: Setup/Breakdown, Greeting, Food&Drink, and Book Sales. Come to join the action and make this event a success.
