History Pub Features Don Malarkey of Band of Brothers

Monday, January 25, 7PM

Holy Names Heritage Center is pleased to announce that Don Malarkey will discuss his World War II experiences at the January History Pub. Born in Astoria, Oregon in 1921, Malarkey left the University of Oregon when he was drafted in 1942. During his tenure with the paratroopers, his unit saw combat at Normandy and Bastogne. Malarkey earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service. Historian Stephen Ambrose interviewed Malarkey extensively for his best selling book, Band of Brothers. In 2008, Malarkey’s own account of the war was published. History Pub, a collaborative program of the Heritage Center, OHS, and McMenamins, takes place the last Monday of the month at the Kennedy School, located at 5736 NE 33rd Avenue in Portland.
