You're Invited to The Pangaea Project's New Year Party!

The Pangaea Project, a leadership development and international service-learning program for Portland at-risk youth, is starting 2010 in style with an "all are welcome" party at Zaytoon Bar on Thursday, January 21 from 5:00-7:30 p.m.

The evening’s festivities will include free samples of Middle Eastern fusion cuisine, Latin music, door prizes, and an opportunity to win a free roundtrip plane ticket.

The Pangaea Project has much to celebrate this year. Another group of high school students, all of whom come from low-income families, graduated last November from Pangaea’s unique program, which took them into the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest and the rice paddies of Thailand to engage in hands-on projects and learn about grassroots social change.

A number of new volunteers came on board with The Pangaea Project in 2009, and their invaluable contributions will be recognized at the Zaytoon gathering. 2010 will see new staff taking the reins at Pangaea’s headquarters in Portland, including Interim Executive Director Rebecca Channer. All fresh and familiar faces will be introduced and welcomed at the event.

The party will also celebrate the recently launched Alberta Street Community Campaign, a coalition of dozens of businesses in Northeast Portland’s Alberta Arts district who are supporting The Pangaea Project through small grants and by raising awareness of the organization through informational events held in their stores. The campaign represents a unique fundraising and promotional model that strengthens the connection between community-based businesses and nonprofits.

With so much to celebrate, and great food, drinks, and prizes to boot, The Pangaea Project’s new year launch party at Zaytoon is one event you won’t want to miss.

Admission is free, but space is limited, so please RSVP by sending an email to [email protected] or by calling (503) 517-8999.
