| position summary: | Assistant Controller under the leadership of the /Controller/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will support the process to provide business essential, cost effective, services to Terwilliger Plaza. This position will be responsible for: 1. Month-end schedules, bank, investment and account reconciliations, journal entries and the preparation of month-end financial statements and related reports for the CEO and the Board of Directors. 2. All of the functions related to the bi-monthly and interim accounts payable invoice processing and preparing and processing checks. 3.Assisting with preparing year-end audit schedules, annual budget worksheets, data gathering and analysis, and other financial schedules and reports as requested. 4.Providing assistance to CEO and management team with financial and budget matters during Controller/CFO absence. 5.Assisting with billing and payroll as needed. | Required Skills and Abilities: | Requirements: * Bachelors degree or higher in accounting. CPA preferred. * 3-5 years general ledger and accounts payable experience. Experience in non-profit and/or healthcare accounting preferred. • Previous experience in general ledger and accounts payable, preferably in a retirement or health care setting. • Must have solid, current working experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook at a highly proficient level. • Experience using ACCPAC accounting software preferred. • Typing and data entry skills are required, accuracy and speed is critical. • Excellent 10-key and reconciliation skills. • Proficient user of copy machine, postage meter, PC, keyboard, mouse, fax, phone and other office equipment. • Confidentiality concerning member and payroll information. • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including proven ability to establish trust and maintain confidence. • Ability and knowledge to perform complex, difficult tasks. • Extremely detail oriented with high level of accuracy. • Ability to work in team environment, listens and interprets, and builds relationships. • Outstanding communications skills (both verbally and in writing) using standard grammar, spelling, and usage as a matter of course, and the ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization including people with different styles and backgrounds. • Ability to multi-task with tight timelines, handle multiple situations and contacts simultaneously. • Understand, interpret and apply workplace practices and policies. • Good communication skills: one-on-one as well as with small and/or large groups. Ability to communicate effectively with other team members. • Outwardly exhibits calm and stressless demeanor to members. Deals effectively with stressful situations. • Able to work additional shifts or extra hours as required. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, involved instructions. • Understand, carry out, memorize and retain simple and complex oral and written instructions. • Possesses interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts. • Read, write and speak English well. • Ability to accept responsibility for direction, organizing, formulating practices, and making decisions. |
