Volunteer to help with regional learning and development Conference!

American Society for Training and Development (ASTD-Cascadia) is hosting their Regional Conference in Salem, Oregon on October 20-21, 2010. The conference will feature an array of workshops that provide intensive, interactive experiences for every level of workplace learning professionals. In conjunction with the conference we are recruiting for two volunteer leadership positions. These roles provide opportunities to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, apply academic work to real-world situations, and make important networking contacts while helping the organization meet its goals.

Director/Co-Director of Marketing Oversee the marketing efforts associated with the conference. Oversight duties include developing the conference branding, e-mail templates, and website as well as all marketing related to the conference and marketing the conference to potential speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and participants.

Time commitment approximately 40-60 hrs total including monthly committee meetings in Tualatin (or virtually if preferred) and the conference in Salem, October 20 & 21, 2010.

The ideal candidate will have a background in marketing, preferably with graphic design experience.

Associate Director of Sponsors & Exhibitors Work with the Director of Sponsors & Exhibitors to contact previous and potential sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers to enlist their participation in the conference. Duties include working from a list of potential sponsors and exhibitors as well as cold calling potential new contacts via phone, e-mail, and in person. Maintain a high level of contact with all sponsors and exhibitors leading up to the conference. Assist on site with set-up and take down and provide a high level of care and comfort on site. Time commitment approximately 40-60 hrs total including monthly committee meetings in Tualatin (or virtually if preferred) and the conference in Salem October 20 & 21, 2010.
