Plant Trees on Saturday with SOLV near the Clackamas Town Center!

Message

Plant Trees and help restore the Phillips Creek watershed in Clackamas at SOLV’s Team Up For Watershed Health site on Saturday, March 13th. Plantings start at 9 am, end by 12 pm and SOLV provides tools and gloves. By planting native trees and shrubs, volunteers will be lowering stream temperatures and creating an ecosystem that will filter polluted stormwater runoff, improve water quality, provide better habitat for wildlife, and be more resilient to climate change.

Phillips Creek is a classic urban stream in the Kellogg Creek watershed. The creek is surrounded by impervious surfaces due to extensive development which has lead to poor water quality.  In working to plant native trees and shrubs side by side with mature Oregon Ash, Big Leaf Maple and Red Alder, water quality will improve.  Volunteers will also work to remove trash and invasive species improving the area’s overall health.  Partners include Water Environment Services of Clackamas County, La Salle High School and U-Haul.
