Enjoy research and love exhibits? Then the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry’s Senior Research and Evaluation Associate position is for you! The position designs, executes, and facilitates systematic evaluation and research studies for exhibits, programs, and museum initiatives and helps lead division efforts.

The ideal candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, ability to interface well with fellow paid and unpaid staff, audiences, and partners in professional, education, and evaluation settings, strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills as appropriate to the position, ability to effectively work independently and with teams on multiple, simultaneous, diverse tasks with a concern for accuracy and presentation. Includes ability to learn quickly and meet deadlines, advanced knowledge of experimental design and data collection methods, advanced knowledge of qualitative data collection methods and analysis, advanced understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics, basic understanding of audience research, cultural accessibility and physical accessibility and safety as well as demonstrated advanced knowledge in at least three of these areas, basic understanding of museum experiences (exhibits and programs) and the science, technology, engineering, and math learning involved as well as demonstrated advanced knowledge in at least three of these areas and Hands-on experience with word processing, spreadsheet analysis, database management, statistical software, computer graphics, and electronic data collection tools and demonstrated proficiency with at least three of these software types. Bilingual – English and Spanish is preferred.

Candidate will have advanced degree—preferably in sciences, behavior, museum studies, education, communications, a minimum 6 years experience in evaluation of education programs, exhibits, survey research, or related work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating projects, and working with teams, demonstrated experience in behavioral research (e.g., literature searches, data collection, data management, data analysis, data interpretation, and data reporting), and experience organizing and sharing knowledge with professional colleagues.
