Host an Intern from Friends of the Children this Summer

Do you work at a non-profit that could use some extra assistance this summer? Would you like to work with a youth in a mentoring relationship to teach them job skills? Consider participating in the Friends of the Children Summer Internship Program!

The Summer Internship Program gives Friends of the Children program teens an introduction to the workforce in order to gain professionalism and job readiness, as well as to explore career options.

Internship placements are needed in a variety of work settings. Past interns have been placed at law firms, restaurants, summer camps, retail stores, warehouses, cafes, marketing firms, non-profits, sports training centers and community newspapers.

Interns work a total of 55-80 hours at your worksite over a 6 week period. Shifts are usually broken up into three, 3-hour shifts or two, 4.5-hour shifts over the 6 week period.

Intern Supervisors receive a training manual, an orientation, and ongoing support from Friends of the Children staff.

Youth are given bus passes for transportation to and from their internship and are paid a $600 stipend at the completion of their internship (this will be paid by Friends of the Children as long as the intern is placed at another non-profit organization).

Dates for the program are July 14th - August 22nd, 2008.
