Transportation Program Assistant

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring the delivery of transportation and related services to help clients who are seniors and younger adults with disabilities remain as independent as possible.  Primary responsibilities include driving and the scheduling and coordination of transportation for frail, low-income clients.

2 positions Full time $10.18 to $11.33/hr

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide transportation to clients who are seniors and younger adults with disabilities, as assigned. Make regular telephone contact with clients to determine transportation or other needs and make appropriate referrals when necessary. Assist program advocates in responding to client needs through transportation services and/or resource delivery. Assist program advocates in the organization and gathering of client documents required for service delivery; Share responsibility for center coverage including crisis intervention and reception; Encourage and facilitate client participation and leadership in agency and community activities. Complete accurate, legible and timely documentation of services delivered in accordance with Portland Impact’s management information system. Meet client standards set forth by program director regarding quantity, type and quality of service delivery to clients. Assist in the development and provides access to community support systems that promote self-sufficiency and empowerment.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would likely meet the following requirements

High school degree or equivalent Valid Oregon drivers’ license and acceptable driving record (must comply with mandatory regulations). Minimum of six months experience providing information and coordination of services to frail, low-income seniors and/or younger adults with disabilities.  

Knowledge of issues and concerns relevant to the seniors and younger adults with disabilities.

Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles and cultures. Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support Portland Impact's mission and goals. Ability to communicate effectively, both speaking and writing. Ability to effectively work within a strength-based, integrated family support service delivery model; Possess good organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple and varied tasks.

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of the Multnomah County aging and disabilities service system. Training in gerontology or related field. Bilingual in Spanish, Russian or Asian language.
