WHAT: Portland Riverfest

DESCRIPTION: Join the fun as Portland caps off the summer by celebrating the Willamette River. Riverfest offers a family-friendly chance to come to the river; take river tours; enjoy live music; learn first-hand about the river’s history, environment, and economy; clean-up the riverbank; and view river spectacles.

"Odds & Ends for Furry Friends" garage sale
Animal Aid is having its annual “Odds & Ends for Furry Friends” garage sale
Date: Friday through Sunday 8/14-16 from
Time: 9am-4pm daily
Location : 5555 SW Dover Ct. in Portland just off SW Oleson Rd (between Vermont and Beaverton –Hillsdale Hwy.)
All proceeds will go towards supporting our rescued, homeless cats and dogs and our Fund for Veterinary Care assisting low income families with pets in need of urgent medical care.
We are accepting gently used items for the sale (preferably not clothing other than infant/toddler and no large furniture items).

position summary: | Part time (18 hrs/wk.) position focused on developing and facilitating Camp Fire after-school activities for students in grades 1-5. Instructor will work directly with the Camp Fire Site Manager, community members, school staff and students. Site Instructors are responsible for planning and teaching sequenced lessons in classroom and other school settings for up to 15 students at a time. Camp Fire strives to achieve youth development outcomes by engaging youth in activities of Service and Leadership, Active Recreation, Creative Arts and Academic Support. Volunteer treasurer needed for homeless youth non-profit
HomePlate, an agency serving youth in unstable housing situations in Washington County, is seeking a treasurer for the Board of Directors. We are a small non-profit with one employee and many volunteers.
HomePlate's mission is to support the positive development of young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability through community building, education, access to services and resources, and youth empowerment.

Celebrate the Willamette River with a Cleanup!
Join SOLV in the Riverfest Cleanups this August in celebration of Portland’s front yard, the Willamette River! Volunteers will be picking up trash at Sellwood Riverfront Park in SE Portland on Saturday, August 22nd from 9AM to 1PM and at Kelley Point Park in N Portland on Sunday, August 23rd from 12PM to 3PM. Help Classroom Law Project prepare for it's annual Golf Tournament benefit! On Thursday and Friday, August 6-7, we will be putting together goodie bags and raffle items for our annual Senators’ Cup Golf Tournament. Volunteers are welcome, on either or both days, anytime between 10am and 4pm. Just let us know when to expect you. Should be a fun time!
