Animal Aid a non-profit no-kill animal rescue organization is holding it's annual 'Odds & Ends for Furry Friends' Garage Sale August 13 - August 15 from 9 AM to 4 PM in the parking lot of Animal Aid's building located at 5335 SW 42nd. Paid Work Crew for Young Women 17 - 24 years old
Oregon Tradeswomen, Inc. has a great opportunity for young women between 17 and 24 years old. We are offering a seven week paid work crew during which young women can try their hands at construction, learning alongside peers of a similar age and from female instructors. During the seven weeks we also work to help sort through some of the basics of life and starting a career: finances, credit, GED/high school diploma and driver’s license and/or permit acquisition. Over the course of the seven weeks participants will receive $1050. We are looking for young women who are looking to get started on a career path but need some guidance.

Enhancing Health with Plant-Based Nutrition: September 17
Northwest VEG and Adventist Health have teamed up to co-sponsor a conference where health care professionals (MDs, NDs, DOs, RNs, RDs, etc.) can learn about caring for patients via plant-based nutrition. Continuing education credits available.
Four world-renowned physicians - Michael Klaper, Michael Greger, Milton Mills, and Gordon Saxe - will present the latest clinical research on preventing and treating diabetes, prostate cancer, colon disorders, and other ailments. Plus, an internationally recognized dietitian, Brenda Davis, will present a "how-to" session on designing plant-based diets for patients.
