On September 14th, the Alberta Coop Grocery hosts cheesemaker Claudia Lucero from Urban Cheesecraft for a free workshop on making fast, easy farmers’ cheeses like paneer and queso blanco. We’ll also have a discussion on urban goat-keeping with Emily Gowen from the Going Goaty Collective. Come on out to learn all about it! We'll start with a potluck dinner at 6:30 pm; bring a dish to share if you can.

Green Roof Workshop Series at Columbia Springs
Green Roof Workshop Series at Columbia Springs Columbia Springs, the environmental education center located at the historic Vancouver Trout Hatchery site on Old Evergreen Highway, will host four workshops in September to provide participants with information and experience on building living green roofs. Workshops will be presented by experienced green roof professionals who will address the diversity of green roof approaches and answer questions from those interested in the design, construction, and purpose of living green roofs. Green roofs are growing in popularity as an effective way to extend the life of a roof while reducing storm-water runoff, fuel costs, and the reflection of heat into the atmosphere.

Sunday Sept. 12th - Down the River Clean Up: Conserving the Clackamas, One Raft at a Time
Damascus, OR, September, 2010 – Did you know the Clackamas River is “home” to inflatable dolphins, chains of flip-flops, and lawn chairs? Come hunt for other “sunken treasures” on Sunday, September 12 at 9:00 a.m. as part of the 8th Annual Down the River Clean Up! This year’s event will launch from Barton Park, where a flotilla of volunteers will raft, kayak, SCUBA, or canoe down a fourteen-mile stretch of the Clackamas, removing any trash it may encounter along the way.
Since its inception in 2003, the Down the River Clean Up has involved more than 1,565 volunteers and removed more than 18 tons of trash from the Clackamas. This year’s hard work will not go un-rewarded!

Title: Development Intern
Position Summary: The Finance Department is seeking interns on a full-time or part-time basis to support its fundraising efforts. Specifically, interested applicants must commit to spending at least 15 hours per week at the office and have the capability to staff three to four evening events per month. The role of the Development Intern encompasses researching new donors, event planning and logistics, data entry and calling prospective donors. The ideal applicant must be outgoing, organized, tech savvy, self-motivated, and prepared to work at a high capacity. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain first-hand political experience, and develop the essential skills for campaign fundraising.
