The mission of Adelante Mujeres is the holistic education and empowerment of low-income Latina women and their families. The mission of Adelante Empresas is to increase the wealth and economic stability of Spanish-speaking immigrant entrepreneurs and their families by providing comprehensive small business training and cooperative marketing.

About Adelante Mujeres

Adelante Mujeres is a community-based organization located in Forest Grove, Oregon. Adelante provides participants a forum in which to learn and discuss the root causes of social ills, and plan collective action for change. By beginning with reflection on one's own experience, participants are able to grapple with their own struggles and hopes, and take concrete steps to improve their lives.

Adelante is structured to give immigrant families the tools to achieve self-determination through the implementation of four specific program goals:

* Increase opportunities for family and community self-determination through holistic education, workforce and entrepreneurial training, and family literacy.

* Build community through leadership development and the search for solutions to common concerns.

* Preserve, foster and share participants' cultural heritage with the wider community and facilitate intercultural exchange.

* Advocate ecological awareness and action for a sustainable economy and healthy communities.

Adelante Mujeres believes education and job creation are intricately connected to justice. Our work is grounded in the following values:

About Adelante Empresas

Adelante Empresas (www.adelanteempresas.org) is a comprehensive, small business development program that assists local Latino entrepreneurs overcome societal barriers and develop the skills necessary to launch successful small businesses. Adelante Empresas was developed to provide additional support and marketing opportunities for individuals participating in Adelante Mujeres’ Micro-Enterprise program. Program staff and volunteers will work one-on-one with aspiring entrepreneurs to create environmentally sustainable, well-run and profitable small businesses. This project will give participants access to the tools necessary to work towards economic self-sufficiency and personal empowerment. Adelante Empresas also serves as a resource for individuals in the surrounding community by providing access to high quality and environmentally sustainable businesses.

Goals

In order to complete its mission, Adelante Empresas will:

* Provide comprehensive business support services to local Latino entrepreneurs.

* Promote participating small business and the Adelante Empresas program through a cooperative marketing model.

* Raise awareness within greater Forest Grove and Washington County community on the benefits of working with small businesses.
