Social Media | TACS Workshop
Presenter: Ash Shepherd, Technology Consultant, TACS
Date: January 22, 2010
Time: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Social media has clearly become a hot topic in the nonprofit sector with many nonprofits looking for ways to take advantage of the benefits these new tools have to offer. As a result, there is no shortage of articles that offer reasons why nonprofits should utilize social media and quick tips on how to get started. The struggle comes when your organization sets up a Fan Page or Twitter account, and then find yourselves asking “OK, now what are we supposed to do? How does this support our organization's mission?”
This workshop will go beyond “social media 101” and help you start building the framework needed for long-term success. Through the use of this framework, you'll be able to help set boundaries and guidelines for using this media in a way that enables your organization to tailor its efforts and meet its specific needs.
This hands-on, interactive training will address:
- The development cycle of online communities
- Identifying goals and metrics to measure your progress
- Considerations for planning and designing campaigns (short-term, long-term, and special events)
- How to “listen” and monitor online communities
- Integrating social media with your overall communications strategy
