Job Title: Pastoral Coordinator Classification: Full time, exempt Reports to: Director
Description of Position: The Pastoral Coordinator exemplifies the mission and philosophy of the Macdonald Center in its service to the forgotten poor and is a spiritual resource and presence to all those served by the Macdonald Center
Essential Responsibilities: 1. Promotes and fosters the Mission of the Macdonald Center to residents, staff, students, board members, volunteers and the community. 2. Supervises individuals in pastoral formation and facilitates their theological reflection. 3. Assesses and addresses spiritual needs in the community – the assisted living residence and the single room occupancy hotels. 4. Facilitates memorial services, spiritual groups, volunteer reflections and such other activities that address spiritual needs. 5. Participates in student and volunteer orientations and debriefings. 6. Encourages social change. 7. Encourages collaboration with outside resources and individuals and involves volunteers. 8. Initiates and supports the dying through hospice referrals when appropriate. 9. Other assignments as appropriate.
Required Qualifications/Skills/Qualities: 1. Masters degree in the fields of Theology, Pastoral Ministry or related areas. Catholic Chaplain Certification preferred. A bachelor degree in Theology and extensive relevant experience may be substituted for the Masters degree. 2. Experience in ministry related to pastoral care. 3. Self directed, innovative and motivated for ministry to the poor. 4. Computer literate. 5. Ability to collaborate and work as a team member. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships through successful interpersonal, written and verbal communication. 7. Willingness to serve persons challenged with chronic mental illness or addictions.
