position summary: | The Muddy Boot Organic Festival is an annual celebration of sustainability, spirituality and community in Southeast Portland, September 10-12, 2010. Sponsored by St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, we are a grassroots event now in our fifth year. The Muddy Boot Organic Festival features a keynote speaker, music, food, beer and wine, children’s activities, workshops, panel discussions and vendor booths. Our aim is to educate and inspire commitment to sustainable and healthy living and stewardship of our planet. We seek a part-time Vendor and Workshop Coordinator for our 2010 festival. The Vendor and Workshop Coordinator will report to the Festival Director and be responsible for the following: *Secure sufficient non-profit, children’s, food and business festival exhibitors for the festival, focusing on sustainable businesses and organizations and meeting budget expectations *Invoice vendors and track vendor payments *With Festival Director and festival planning committee members, manage site plan and vendor booth assignments and setup *Work closely with festival planning committee, and Festival Director, but also work independently to reach vendor participation goals *Schedule 8 – 12 educational workshops and panel discussions *Provide support to Festival Director with regard to sponsor relations *Create signage and materials related to vendors and workshops in advance of the festival *Act as vendor liaison and be on site to manage workshops during festival *Other duties as assigned This position requires some weekend and evening work, especially during the weekend of September 10-12. Position requires the ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and move up/down stairs. Position begins mid- to late May and ends September 24 (19 weeks total). Position requires 10 to 15 hours per week. Candidates will undergo background check. Salary / Pay Rate: | $10-11 per hour DOE |
Required Skills and Abilities: | The Vendor and Workshop Coordinator will have the following skills and abilities: • Experience working in an outreach or sales position; enjoys “cold calling”; thrives on interactions with diverse people • Ability to work equally well with and without supervision • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines • Excellent writing skills; impeccable use of grammar and punctuation • Accuracy and familiarity with working with budgets; good MS Excel and Word skills • High-energy, positive outlook; creative problem-solving abilities; ability to deal with quickly shifting priorities • Commitment to living sustainably—you bike or use public transportation when possible, recycle, buy locally, etc. |
