The Oral History Space
PUBLIC SOCIAL UNIVERSITY ORAL HISTORY SPACE
May 13 THROUGH May 17, 201011 a.m. - 6 p.m. (until 5 p.m. on May 17)
in conjunction with the Open Engagement Conference
SOUTH PARK BLOCK CSW PARK AVENUE BETWEEN MADISON & JEFFERSON, PORTLAND, OREGON
FREE & DEPENDENT UPON PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
We are creating a temporary space for free public consideration, celebration, and exploration of oral history as a vital means of education, empowerment, cultural growth and more. The space (housed within a delivery truck transformed specifically for the occasion) will include a browsing library of oral histories from a diverse range of projects, collections and cultures in printed and recorded formats for visitors to explore. Also, visitors will have the opportunity to have 75 minute oral histories recorded inside the space during certain times. These oral histories will be included in the Oral History Space project archive and later within existing public archives. Also there will be a lunchtime presentation series in the park blocks outside the Oral History Space with a diverse range of individuals who are doing interesting work in oral history and traditions.

Also, we need help preparing for this big project in the coming week. If you have some time and enthusiasm, please write and let us know. It will be fun, and we would love to work with you!
