position summary: | The Native American Youth and Family Center in Portland, Oregon, works to enrich the lives of our Native youth and families through education, community involvement, and culturally specific programming. We have provided educational services, cultural arts programming, and direct support to reduce poverty to the Portland metropolitan area's American Indian and Alaska Native community for over 30 years. The Development Assistant will work directly for the office of Development and report to the Development Director. The position will be generally responsible for 75% auction coordination, donor coordination and data entry, 10% donor development and 15% other fundraising activities as assigned by the Development Director. |
Salary / Pay Rate: | $12-$15 phr plus benefits |
Required Skills and Abilities: | Qualifications and Skills: • At least one year of data entry experience with Raiser’s Edge and Auctionpay preferred. • Experience with Raiser’s Edge Batch. • High level of accuracy with data entry (equivalent to typing 60 wmp). • Familiar with 10-key adding machine, other standard office equipment • Basic understanding of development, fundraising and nonprofit organizations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Experience with development data base systems. • Excellent computer skills including web based research, word processing, database management, Email and Microsoft Office programs. • 1 year of fundraising experience and a demonstrated ability to successfully support the activities of fundraising including the securing of resources from government, foundation, corporate, special event and/or other activities. • Proven persuasive communication skills; excellent reading, writing, editing and research abilities; excellent verbal communication skills. • Demonstrated initiative, discipline, and ability to perform under pressure and to meet deadlines. • Rudimentary knowledge about development strategies and fund development research resources and tools. • Ability to work with diverse populations specifically the urban Native population, including knowledge of Native American history, an understanding of the diversity of the local American Indian/Alaskan Native community and issues surrounding the Urban Indian experience.
