POSITION TITLE: Shared Housing Program Assistant
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To assist the program manager in all activities of the Shared Housing program. Perform daily activities of the Shared Housing program including all client and interagency interaction. Perform Shared Housing program outreach. Work with other programs, agencies and community leaders to develop low cost alternative housing. Improve, develop and implement policies and procedures with direction and assistance from the program manager. Supervise volunteer staff.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Program Assistant will be responsible for most of the clients' intake interviews and phone inquiries. The Program Assistant will have support from the Program Manager and volunteers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
a.. Direct and indirect client services (for example, respond to requests for information, provide referrals, conduct client interviews, respond to requests for matches, maintain client files accurately and perform criminal background checks). b.. Community outreach to clients, partner agencies and donors. c.. Continuous improvement of the Shared Housing program. d.. Contribute to the development and administration of contributions, grants and contracts. e.. Maintain office forms, equipment and supplies (together with other members of staff). f.. Provide other support as needed to Program Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
a.. Excellent written and oral communication skills. b.. Well-developed interpersonal skills. c.. Embraces diversity in all forms and expressions. d.. Highly proficient with MS Office suite of programs on a PC platform (including MS Access). e.. Handles multiple simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced environment with grace and good humor. f.. Able to work independently while maintaining a close relationship with supervisor and co-workers. g.. Self-starter. h.. Bilingual Spanish/English required. i.. High tolerance for ambiguity and change.
WORK HOURS: 35 hours per week. Occasional work in evenings and on weekends will be required.
LOCATION: Primary office is located at 909 SW 11th Ave, Portland.
SALARY: $12-16/hour DOE.
BENEFITS: All regular employees (does not include on-call or temporary) are eligible for vacation, holidays, sick leave, credit union, employee assistance program and employee trainings. Employees in exempt positions that are at least 0.50 FTE or non-exempt positions that are 20 hours per week or more, also receive medical insurance, dental insurance, disability insurance and life insurance, per eligibility requirements.
