Outreach Instructor

Love to teach kids and travel? Then the Outreach Instructor position is for you! The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) has 2 openings for Outreach Instructors, scheduled for regular, part-time 30 hours per week. This position is responsible for preparing and presenting a variety of engaging science education programs in schools and community sites to people of all ages. As an Outreach Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering and presenting OMSI Outreach Education programs in an engaging and enthusiastic manner, coordinating supplies and logistics and driving to external locations throughout NW Oregon and SW Washington.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication skills relating to children and adults, excellent customer service skills, knowledge of and enthusiasm for informal science education, a minimum one year experience teaching in a classroom or informal setting and a valid driver’s license. Thorough knowledge of general science and a Bachelor’s degree in education or science field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Selected candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check, reference checks and requirements in the MVR Policy including passing Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and Alcohol & Drug Test for either non-CDL or CDL Drivers Policy, including pre-duty drug test.
