Grant Workshop 9/30: Neigh. Small & Graffiti Abatement Grants
Greetings,
You are invited to the upcoming Neighbors West-Northwest (NWNW) Grant Workshop being held on Thursday, September 30, 2010, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lincoln High School, Room 106, 1600 SW Salmon Street. This location is accessible by Tri-Met Buses #15, 51 & 63 and the Max Red & Blue Lines. Carpooling, biking, walking and public transportation is recommended since the parking available near the Lincoln High School campus is on-street and metered.
Two grant programs are currently being offered by NWNW and the Office of Neighborhood Involvement:
. The goal of the Neighborhood Small Grants Program is to provide neighborhoods and community organizations an opportunity to build community, attract new and diverse members and sustain those already involved.
. The goal of the Graffiti Abatement Grant Program is to support community-driven improvement projects and community building opportunities with an emphasis on graffiti prevention, graffiti abatement and/or addressing locations chronically tagged with graffiti.
Projects must occur within the Neighbors West-Northwest Coalition area. A map is included in the grant applications. If you are considering applying for either grant program, the upcoming workshop is highly recommended. The workshop will include:
. An overview of both grant programs
. NWNW program priorities
. Grantwriting tips
. Q & A with Marcia Dennis from the City of Portland's Graffiti Abatement Program
. Pearl Picnic event summary & their experiences applying for the Neighborhood Small Grant last year
. Schedule appointments to receive individualized suggestions on how to make your application stronger
Word versions of the grant applications and additional information can be found online at www.nwnw.org/resources/grantprogram. More information about graffiti abatement is available at www.nwnw.org/resources/graffitiabatement. Grant applications are due at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 1, 2010.
Looking forward to seeing you next week at the NWNW Grant Workshop. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Angela Southwick
