position summary: | Reclaiming Futures at Portland State University, in downtown Portland along the tree-lined Park Blocks, is an excellent place to work. As our full-time national executive director, you will provide the vision, leadership, and direction to spread Reclaiming Futures -- a proven model used by 29 communities to help teens overcome drugs, alcohol and crime -- to new sites across the country. Application review begins mid-November and position is open until filled. The successful applicant is expected to start work April 2011. PSU is an AA/EO institution and welcomes applications from diverse candidates and candidates who support diversity. |
Salary / Pay Rate: | $105,000-$120,000 |
Qualifications: | • An advanced degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 10 years in a relevant field. • Proven organizational leadership skills including ability to take initiative, analyze complex situations, manage uncertainty, negotiate and make timely decisions and changes as needed. • Previous success with project management. Preference given to candidates with experience taking an initial idea or demonstration project to scale. • Demonstrated success with development and fund raising through grant writing, work with private donors or business development. • A record of respect and accomplishment in a youth reform-related field – special consideration for those with a record of accomplishment in adolescent behavioral health policy practice and/or juvenile justice policy practice. • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills, and proven ability to work with news media. • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, preferably in an academic or quasi-academic setting. • Demonstrated capacity to interact collaboratively and collegially, work with diverse populations and staff, as well as a wide range of audiences from policy makers to practitioners to consumers. • Excellent interpersonal skills to include the ability to problem-solve and resolve conflicts effectively. • Excellent computer skills with office productivity software including programs for email, presentations, spreadsheets, etc. • Ability to travel frequently. |
