Job Opening - School Admin Assistant

Job Description: Administrative Assistant full-time September to June
General Objective: Serve the school as receptionist and support to the faculty, parents, trustees, and administrative staff.
Reports to: Business Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Deliver messages to classrooms.
· Provide backup phone coverage and reception.
· Direct out going mail, open and distribute incoming mail.
· Process payments as needed.
· Process incoming bills and attach “payment authorization forms.”
· Stamp all incoming checks for deposit.
· Maintain parent bulletin board and mailboxes.
· Maintain attendance records and procedures.
· Manage photocopying.
· Filing as assigned.
· Provide simple first aide to children as needed.
· Monitor children sent to office for discipline.
· Word processing as needed to complete assignments.
· Run errands.
· Purchase supplies.
· Make travel arrangements.
· Coordinate safety measures, including fire drills and evacuation plans, and maintain first aid and biohazard kits.
· Maintain student emergency forms.
· Update web page.
· Oversee school-wide email distribution.
School Participation And Team Work:
Arrive at work on time, punctually attend and actively participate in all required meetings and training. Required to be a respectful, cooperative, and reliable team member and participant in school activities. Adhere to a professional code of conduct.
Confidentiality: Required to respect the confidentiality of information about enrolled children and families, personnel issues, and other school operations.
Training: In consultation with supervisor develop own professional work goals and training plan.
Qualifications:
· Good phone and communication skills.
· Ability to meet the public.
· Ability to organize, prioritize, and be logical in approach to work.
· Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
· Must have a first aide certificate within six months of date of hire.
· Willingness to learn to use office equipment and computer software.
· Must be bondable.
· Must pass a criminal history check.
Familiarity with Waldorf education a plus.
Physical Qualifications: Ability to move around the building and lift or move supplies and equipment or children weighing up to 50 pounds.
Hours: Full-time non-exempt, flexible schedule, September through June.
Compensation: Salaried starting $2,100-2,300 per month (10 months) DOE; flex credits of $416 per month usable for health care, retirement, or additional salary; partial tuition remission; school vacations.
