position summary: | Literary Arts internships provide the opportunity to see the inside of a nonprofit organization, learn how our programs work and about Oregon’s literary community. Interns also gain experience in a professional office environment. Interns assist staff with general office operations and specific program needs. Tasks vary depending on the skills and goals of each intern. Responsibilities may include: • answering telephones • taking and processing ticket orders • archiving print media • assembling mailings • researching authors • editing and proofreading • processing Oregon Book Awards and Oregon Literary Fellowships applications • synthesizing program evaluations • assisting with the Writers in the Schools anthology We ask that interns commit to 8-10 hours per week for at least one semester or three months. Scheduling is flexible. Interns must be detail-oriented with strong communication skills. We depend on our interns to take initiative and to be able to work independently as well as with staff. Internships are unpaid but work-study or class credit can be arranged. |
