The Mount St. Helens Conservation Corps exists as a volunteer organization whose purpose is to enhance, restore, protect and build trails in the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument and Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The goals of this position are to create, host and evaluate up to 25 trail and facilities maintenance projects from April to October 2009 (40%); recruit volunteers to work the volunteer projects, which may include public speaking activities, researching groups and presenting opportunities to them, follow up and scheduling (30%); seek funding through in-kind and grant donations to fund the 2009 season of volunteer projects (20%) and honor and acknowledge volunteers (10%).
