position summary: | Marketing Director Literary Arts seeks a creative, experienced individual to lead marketing and publicity efforts for an exciting array of literary programs including Portland Arts & Lectures, Delve: Readers' Seminars, Oregon Book Awards, Oregon Literary Fellowships and Writers in the Schools. Responsibilities • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan to support Portland Arts & Lectures, the organization’s primary earned income channel. • Manage news and media relationships, negotiate advertising and media contracts, produce and distribute promotional materials and monitor budgets. • Oversee all aspects of the website and determine effective online presence and email marketing strategies. • Determine and execute specific marketing strategies for individual programs. • Proactively reach out to new groups to increase involvement in Literary Arts events and programs. Qualifications • 3-5 years experience in marketing or related field. Contacts with local media a plus. • Outstanding oral and written communication skills. • Impeccable attention to detail. • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse constituencies. • Experience with website development and email marketing. • Experience with design programs including InDesign and Photoshop. • Strong interest in the literary arts. Background in literature a plus. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits.
