Organization: Faith Café
Position Title: Operations Manager
Compensation: $10 - $12 per hour, no benefits
Position Start-Date: December 1, 2008
Hours: Varies - approximately 20 hours per week, flexible hours
Background: Faith Café is a partnership of faith communities who, in love and justice, are dedicated to serving our neighbors in Washington County who are hungry for food and community. We accomplish this by offering a free meal shared as a family and advocating for long-term social changes that reduce poverty and hunger. We are looking to hire an Operations Manager to facilitate the volunteer efforts of a coalition of Beaverton-area churches, whose members are actively involved in the long-term planning and weekly operations of Faith Café. Each Sunday evening meal is prepared and served by a volunteer team from one of these participating churches.
Position Duties: The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall ongoing maintenance of Faith Café exclusive of actual on-site duties. Tasks include, but may not be limited to: Assure annual Health Department License is maintained and accompany inspectors bi-annually on Faith Café inspections. Communicate with head cooks from each participating church/group informing them of current food inventory, recent menus and previous week’s guest numbers. Work with them to develop nutritious hot meals utilizing any donated food on hand if possible. Order, pick-up and deliver food from Oregon Food Bank (reliable vehicle required). Purchase additional food items and supplies needed for weekly meal preparations that are not available through other sources. Monitor small appliance and kitchen utensil use and replace, repair or purchase as necessary. Prepare and submit all necessary Oregon Food Bank reports on time.
Specific Skills and Experience Desired: Ability to lift 40-pound food boxes safely. Knowledge of nutrition and experience in menu planning for large groups. Good communication skills, including the ability to use/ or learn e-mail and limited computer applications. Previous experience in completing reports, inventories, and other statistical data input. Ability to assess small equipment and appliance needs and report major equipment failures to appropriate parties. Ability to work independently and perform position duties consistently and reliably.
Special Requirements: Valid Oregon Drivers License. Current Oregon Food Handlers License. Must be willing to agree to a brief Oregon State Police background check at the expense of Faith Café.
Training: On the job training will be provided by Board President and current volunteer General Manager.
