Description

The Center for Family and Adolescent Research (CFAR) offers free outpatient counseling programs for qualifying families with a substance-using youth (ages 13-20). Specialized programs for methamphetamine-using youth, youth who are using alcohol/drugs and experiencing depression, and for parents/guardians seeking help engaging a treatment-refusing son or daughter in treatment. Services are provided free of charge through federally funded treatment research grants. Families participate in 1-hour counseling sessions (1-2x/wk) and help psychologists evaluate program effectiveness by completing research assessments.
