Presenter, Mary Anne Rees, Portland State University
Summary: This presentation has been designed for development officers who are in the early stages of creating a bequest program. Low cost strategies will be reviewed as well as tactics for responding to inquiries. Legal and procedural considerations will be covered as well as possibilities for donor recognition.
Attendees will learn: 1) strategies for creating a bequest program 2) strategies for donor visits and follow-up 3) the importance of creating and maintaining an expectancy list 4) legal and procedural considerations.

Bio: Mary Anne Rees holds two music degrees from Indiana University as well as a PhD. in Higher Ed Administration from the University of Oregon.
Past positions included serving in administrative positions in large schools of music, the Dean of the West Chester University School of Music (Pennsylvania) and Planned Giving Associate of the Archdiocese of Portland. She is a Portland native and currently serves as Director of Gift Planning at Portland State University. Mary Anne is a classical pianist and continues to perform in the Portland area.
She also has a number of publications on the administration of music schools in higher education.
There is very limited street parking near the YWCA. We encourage attendees to bike, walk, carpool, or use public transportation to attend our events.
